Hi!!
I'm trying to publish my site to my server but I've got a ot of doubts and errors too. First of all my site (which works perfectly) is installed in a computer and the database in a server connected via LAN to my computer. To publish the site i've had to touch the host file placed in windows/system32/drivers/etc/ to have the word "test" (for example) pointing to the server, and in the server's IIS i created a new website with "test" as a header of that website, so when i type "test" in an explorer it redirects me to the server website (I don't now if that's well done...)
The problems started at compiling the site in my computer (not the server). I got an error about the forums attachments and I read in this forums that I had to delete to files to solve that. It was in this post.
After deleting those files It compiled well and with the option publish website in the Visual Studio 2005, build menu, i pretended to publish my website in the server. So I typed "test" wheere I had to put the server's IP and once the progress was completed I entered the server and I saw everything was ok. The published project was placed in the folder I told the new web site (in the IIS) to point. Then when I try to see that site with another computer connected to the server I type in the explorer the word "test" and I don't know why it automaticaly redirects me to de adress Localhost/dnn that is where I created initially the web site. In the computer I created it it shows the site perfectly but in the other computers (server included) it says the page is not found.
It is very strange and I've been 4 days trying it without any solution. Please anybody who knows how to publish a web site in a "local" server tell me what I'm doing wrong... or at least if you know a tutorial or a manual to do that, please show it to me.
Forgive if I've haven't explained it well but I'm not english and is difficult to me to explain it with another language. THANKYOU !!!
