Hello,

I'm having a bit of a nightmare on Smart-Thinker.com. I upgraded to 4.3.3 about an hour ago, and I have the following issues.

1) I can't upload modules. I am trying to upload my new Smart-Thinker HomePage module for 4.3.3 (works fine on Dev 4.3.3 site). I get to Module Definitions and click on Upload and add the module to the textbox, but when I click on upload it goes back the module list page. I got it working once and haven't been able to upload again. I tried in FF and IE. This is a major problem. I have no error in my error log when this occurs.

I thought it may be related to the Blowery compression so I removed all compression text from my web.config and the .dlls (ISharp and Blowery) from the \bin dir. The site now loads (running incredible slowly) but still can't upload. (as per this post)

2) When I am logged in as host, I am getting this error on my HTML/Text modules:

Message: DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.NavigationControl.SolpartMenuNavigationProvider.Bind(DNNNodeCollection objNodes) at DotNetNuke.UI.WebControls.SolPartActions.BindMenu(DNNNodeCollection objNodes) at DotNetNuke.UI.WebControls.SolPartActions.Page_PreRender(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---
Source:

The site is running dreadfully slowly, but I'll enable compression once this is all working again...

Can someone help please? Also, this is on Smart-Thinker.com, so please excuse the state it is in - I really don't want to roll back to my 3.2.0 backup and I want to move forwards...

An update: Users Online also seems to be broken. It's not showing any users on the site.

All shedules are running, and I made no changes to settings after the upgrade. The PurgeUser schedule history shows no errors.

The Error Log is filling up with this error:
Message: System.Exception: Unhandled Error: ---> System.Web.HttpUnhandledException: Exception of type 'System.Web.HttpUnhandledException' was thrown. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Modules.Forum.Rss.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.OnLoad(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at System.Web.UI.Page.HandleError(Exception e) at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequest(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequest() at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestWithNoAssert(HttpContext context) at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) at ASP.desktopmodules_forum_forum_rss_aspx.ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) at System.Web.HttpApplication.CallHandlerExecutionStep.System.Web.HttpApplication.IExecutionStep.Execute() at System.Web.HttpApplication.ExecuteStep(IExecutionStep step, Boolean& completedSynchronously) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

hi Rodney,
i've had this problem with uploading modules since 4.1.  my solution was to touch the web.config file to restart the application.

let me know if this helps.

1) I saw that in early 3.X versions. It only happened to remote sites, not on local sites. I solved it adding more than one module at a time.

In general you should disable compression in web.config before upgrading.

Thanks for the replies.

I took the HTTP Compression stuff out the web.config, but I forgot about theISharp.dll and the Blowery .NET 1.1 .dll (going up to 2.0). At the moment I have removed all traces of compression and I was still having problems uploading single modules (with no message given).

The site seems a little more stable now - I may try to enable .NET 2.0 Blowery compression later today.

I am still getting the Binding error and the RSS Forum error (I know the core Forum have RSS feeds on these Forums turned off so I may do the same)
