I installed 3.3.4 and it installed perfectly over my 3.0 version.  Everything worked fine but now I am unable to create portals (either child or parent)  something broke somewhere.

So what I want to do is rerun the install scripts to redo the database tables, etc...

I tried copying in the upgrade folders and files but the site comes up and does not start the install over again.  The reason I want to do this is because I think something is hosed up in the database tables and I think this will fix it.

As I said everything works perfectly except that I can't create portals.  I left a post previously but got no answers.  the error simply says "Error creating child portal".  I have been working on this for two days and hate spending the time but have to get this fixed.

The safest procedure (to be sure you have a fresh install):

1. Delete the database
2. Create a new database
2. Backup your install folder
3. Delete the install folder
4. Copy the install files again
5. Run setup.

The problem is I have a perfectly good working site.  Isn't there a way perhaps in the web.config to initiate a re-install.  I have a lot of sites in here and don'twant to have to start over.

Make a backup first, then go into your database and find the Versions table.

Delete the version records that you want the scripts to re-run for.

This isn't exactly like moving back to that point and upgrading, because some of the sql scripts will have already made their changes, and running them again may generate errors, but it's worth a try as long as you are prepared with a backup.

To get the app to recheck the version, you'll need to restart it. You can restart the app by making a small edit in the web.config and saving the file, or just FTP your web.config down to your local drive, then send it back up again.

Now navigate to your site as normal.  When the app detects the change to web.config it will re-run the scripts.

Sorry. I didn't read you post carefully enough and concluded you wanted a new database.
