First I sorry about my bad English. Second, I sorry about I'm newbie of DNN, don't know much about DNN.  I just hope someone can help me this problem, thank you (who reply for me, even only read my threat).

After I had configed web.config, I browsed my site, it's appear error "Failed to access IIS metabase"

This is full desciption of that error:

Failed to access IIS metabase.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.Web.Hosting.HostingEnvironmentException: Failed to access IIS metabase.

The process account used to run ASP.NET must have read access to the IIS metabase (e.g. IIS://servername/W3SVC). For information on modifying metabase permissions, please see http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=267904.

I viewed the
help link  for modifying metabase permission, but I coundn't do, I don't know what <meta path> is value on my computer (I tried example meta path is "IIS://localhost/w3svc" but unsuccess)

Hi,

Had the same issue - its has nothing to do with DNN but with the .NET framework - reinstall ( or fix ) your 2.0 .NEt framework - that fixed it for me ...

Hi,

i have resolve the same problem by runing aspnet_regiis -i  from VS Command Prompt.

As mentioned above this issue is resolved by re-installing IIS.  I personally recommend forcefully uninstalling it first.  To do this entire process do the following.

1.  Open a command prompt window
2.  Navigate to your Windows/Microsoft.NET/Framework/v2.0.50727/ folder
3.  Run the command aspnet_regiis.exe -u 
4.  Run the command aspnet_regiis.exe -i

Steps three and four uninstall then reinstall ASP.NET.  After you complete this step I would ensure that ASP.NET 2.0 is selected as the ASP.NET version, then your site should work
