I downloaded the DotNetNuke_4.3.5_StarterKit and expanded it. I ran the one file DotNetNuke.vscontent, and it runs, asking what content to install. I accepted installing all content, and then I launched Visual Studio 2005, and chose new web site. There is no template for dotnetnuke available.

What might be wrong that prevents this template from installing?

Did you "right-click" on the website folder in Solutions Explorer and went to "Add New Item"?  When the popup window appears you should notice skin/mod templates by the DNN logo.  IF not I would try to run the VS Content file again within the same environment.

Ok, when I do as you suggest, I do see the module template, which I can open.

Still, this is not the whole system I was looking for (just a module). I thought I would be seeing the template when I select new web site... (but i don't)

I did try running the vs content file several times (all with the same result), and an earlier version (no difference).

One difference I noticed when installing was that it never gave me the dialogue about it being an unsigned application, as was indicated in the installation document. Not sure if thats relevant though.

Appears to me to have successfully installed the starter kit.  I dont understand what you are looking for.  This starter kit is designed to help you create a module or skin in DNN.  It saves you approx. 70% of coding from scratch.  Once you add the new item and select the mod or skin template, it will appear in the Solutions Explorer and you will be instructed to rename a couple of folders.  Are you trying to create a skin or module for DNN?

Actually I'm trying to evaluate/install the whole dotnetnuke website system. Specifically, I'd like to install the forum functionality.

Seems funny to me that the starter kit would not include this ability to start up the website, but seems rather to offer only the module that would plug in to this.

Anyway, I reviewed the information about these files, and must admit it doesn't provide the basic information I need.

I'm starting from nothing. What do I need to download in order to install the basic dotnetnuke website, and then add the forum functionality?

Thanks,
