Hello, I'm new to the DNN forums. I'm in the process of learning DNN and I have a problem installing DNN 4.3.5 to my pc. I had 4.0 installed on another PC and I switched PC's. I did copy my Dotnetnuke website files to my new PC hoping I would still have the site, but it does not work. So I figured I need to reload DNN onto my new pc. I saw there was an updated version so I tried downloading 4.3.5, I save it and then I open the DNN VScontent folder. It shows the selection of Pojects, modules, and skins. I click next and then finish and is says installation completed with errors. I click on the link for more information and it says "The item DotNetNuke.zip could not be copied because it was not found". I don't understand it, all of the zip files are in the same folder and it said it could not find it for the module.zip, and skin.zip. I would appreciate the much needed help, I do not know why it will not install.

Well, there are a number of points missing here.  Are you using VWD or VS2K5?  Did you (and I hate to mention this) read the install/update docs?  Because according to the steps you took to move the DNN site, you missed a bunch of things.  Like updating your web.config, unattaching and reattaching the database to the new site, etc.

It would help people help you if you keep be more specific and show us the specific steps you took.  It appears you tried to do two things at once--move the site and update it at the same time.

What I would do is start all over again.  It appears that at least part of the problem is that your Object References in your sln and/or proj files are pointing to a path that, while the dlls were located in the right spot on your old server, you have installed the website in a different spot on this server, thus the project cannot find the dotnetnuke.dll.  You can always delete the reference and re-reference it, but again, we really need more information to help.  Like the specific steps you took.  And separate trying to upgrade from moving the site.  Get the site moved properly first, make sure it's working and only then should you attempt to upgrade.

If ya give us more info, someone will be able to help...
