I'm building a website for someone, but I haven't done this for a long long time. Someone told me to use dotnetnuke cause it was easier then coding. I read the install structions but I'm confused.

The people I'm building a website purchased a domain and I'm sorting the hosting out now. In the installation instructions it was talking about configuring asp & iis, but if its all hosted remotely I don't have access to that do I?

Also whats the best install method for someone who doesn't really know what there doing. I know what all the file types are I just don't know how to use them.

Please help!!

Thanks,

Cameron

Good choice in  choosing DNN! The installation is fairly straightforward but sometimes it is a challenge in getting the hosting provider to understand the requirements.

The steps are outlined pretty well in the documentation but here are the highlights:

1. Create a sql 2000 or 2005 database. Your host will do this for you. Create a user with dbo rights.

2. Make sure you have read write modify permission on the root and all subfolders for the aspnet or network service account depending on what .net you are running.

3. in iis make sure that the hosting provider has dnn running as an application and the default page is default.aspx

review the documentation for more detail and as long as you follow it -- you should be ok

good luck.

Pick a company from this list:

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/tabid/702/Default.aspx

That will install it for you.
