Greetings,

Has anyone received an "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error when attempting a Starter Kit install?  (I've tried versions 4.35 and 4.0.3 with the same result)

Please find the complete error message and stack trace copied below.  I'm also copying the output from the VWD Express build.

Thanks! Jason

In response to posts like this I made a tutorial for a set-up that should work for you:

Setting-up the Development Environment (without IIS)

The difference between this an dthe starter kit is that I am showing you how to remove items that are probably causing problems in your situation.

AdefWebserver,

Thanks for your response.  I cleared things out and started over following your helpful tutorial.  Thanks.

Unfortunately, I'm still getting the "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error.

NOTE:  I'm using SQL Server 2005 NOT SQL Express.  Could this be an issue?  The install connected and successfully populated the database.  I'll copy my connection string for good measure:

    <add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Server=XXXXX;Database=XXXXX;UID=XXXXX; WSID=XXXXX; Trusted_Connection=Yes"/>

It looks as if some others are experiencing the same problem with 4.3.5.  Here's a link to the thread:
