I can do a refresh and the page will come up.  put i can not make this portal live until i have some stabiltiy.  Anyone have any clues why this may be happening?  I have reset the permissions on all subdirectorys thinking that may be the issue

Hi,

am am getting exactly the same message. I am using 1und1, the German incarnation of 1and1 and I am beginning to think that it might be impossible to get DNN to run on their servers. I am on day three of trying to get it to work smoothly. So far I had the best luck with these steps:

  • Downloaded DotNetNuke 4.3.5 Install
  • Uploaded the Zip-File to my webspace (I had problems with FTPing the unzipped files)
  • Unzip into the webspace root
  • Rename the newly created folder to DNN
  • Give full trust to Network and IUSR_...
  • Create DNN Application
  • Modify web.config per 1&1 help center

I did this again and again until it finally worked halfways - albeit slow. But even then the above exception started creeping on me, first in the Site settings and now whenever I try to login.

1und1 claims they support DNN but at least their support is poor. Phone support tells you to install an older version if there is a problem. I am about to quit 1und1.

Regards
Tim

I believe this thread covers the main issues with hosting on 1and1.

Hope it helps!
