Hi,

Can't for the life of me get this to install locally on my laptop (can't connect to database).  A couple of questions:

1) Does your datbase have to be located in the App_Data directory?  I am using an empty db in the SQL\Data folder - the way previous versions of DNN were always set up.

2) I am using SQLExpress 2005 - it is set to Windows authentication - I assume this is correct - it installed like this and doesn't seem to want to allow SQL authentication .....

3) My webconfig points at the mdf file so:

AttachDBFilename=C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\DNN.mdf

4) MYPC\aspnet are set as the db owner

Any pointers to what I am doing wrong here ...

Many thanks.

Patrick

please notice: if you created your database manually, use the SQL200/2005 syntax in your connection string.

That's useful .... I thought it would be something like that !!

Another thing - my SQLExpress seems to be set for windows authentication and not sql server authentication.  I assume I need to change this - are you able to tell me how to change it for sql authentication so I can add logins with usernames and passwords.

I am not quite sure why it is set to windows authentication - I installed this with Visual Studio 2005 and it just seemed to be set that way.

If someone could answer this point I would be most grateful !!

Patrick
