I know I keep annoying everyone with my post asking noob question, however I have learned a ton.  To update, I know can install DNN with no problem and NOW I can move a portal.  As far as the whole child/parent portal thing, I have decided to just rewrite the page from scratch (long nights with no sleep here I come).  This move that I accomplished is great, however does have some major problems.

STEPS I DID:

1)copied the database and log files over to the new machine and attached them via the Studio Manager Express
2)Created the new user and login (since I could not just edit the old one)
3)Create the IIS virtual directory which points to the folder of the new site.
4)edited the web.config to show the corrected info.
5)ran it via internet explorer and it came up fine.

Once I tried to log in to see if everything went ok, none of the users worked.  How do I fix that so I can login?  On the old machine, how do I make it to where the DNN instance can be accessed from anywhere instead of just my PC?  I have set the alias on it and it still doesnt work.
