In summary,  a DNN installation (or host) may contains more than one DNN portials (or websites); a superuser (host) account of a DNN installation is responable for managing the total DNN portials, but a admin account is responsible for only one DNN portials belonging to him/she.

However, I am also curious whether it is possible to add another Superuser (host) account other than the default one.

Yes you can add more superuser accounts to your DNN site.

Login as Host
Select "Superuser Accounts" from the "Host" menu
Select "Add New User"

Also aside from having administrative abilities over all portals the host (superuser) accounts have the abilities by default to upload modules, upload skins, set folder permissions, add portals, administer the scheduled tasks and other limited access functionality

Is it possible to do this from the DB given that i cannot login in as the HOST?

If you have access to a working portal user account you could set the IsSuperUser field in their profile in the users table to 1.  That would promote them to a host.

You could also create a whole account via the databse, but that is a bit more involved....
