Including the webresource.axd to the exlusion list did the trick (so far). I did not have to do any rollback to do this, just be carefull top add webresource.axd (and restart, delete cache etc do delete any trace) before enabling the compression settings. I may have mentioned that the problem did not appear in Firefox.

I agree, you do not need to rollback.  I did not know to clear my local cache.

The problem presented with both IE and FF for me.  My guess is that your FF had not cached a problematic webresource.axd file.

Still ok, excepted one general exception, but I do not think it is linked to this problem.

That looks like a problem with the reports module.. hopefully just a passing failure and not related.

Overnight my log has filled up solid red, with about 35 general and/or scheduler exceptions and mostly of the transaction resource deadlock kind and mostly to do with the search engine. There was only one application shutdown/restart - these used to happen every few minutes with 4.40 or earlier and I haven't had the server patched with the hotfix for that.

Overall this is a great improvement on previous installs, but I'll put it in a new thread anyway after I've watched it for a while longer and done some more research.

So. .. . . is it possible that you could provide the Step-by-Step process you go through to make this work?

I have tried all the suggestions and I still get errors. I might not have deleted the cache correctly or in the right order so a Step-by-Step would be helpful.

In addition to what is described here, I also get an error when I try to change the compression and cache options in Host Settings. When I change the settings, I get an error returned that says Host Settings not available at this time. Is that because the cache is not cleared before enabling compression?

Another issue caused by the compression module is that one of the modules I use stops functioning. This is a free module provided by Paul Scarlett called SQLGridSelectView. It is free and he has made it so you can use it to create, update and delete records provided you know how to write the SQL statements to make that happen.

Anyway, for now I am having to use just the cache settings and not enable compression if I want my site to remain stable.
