Hi,

I'm using dnn 4.04 and i've got this problem with uploading large files.
First i changed in the web.config file the following:
<httpRuntime useFullyQualifiedRedirectUrl="true" maxRequestLength="15000" requestLengthDiskThreshold="15000" />
I 'd tried to upload a file of 12mb and i still get a time-out. I'd tried a lot of different configuration settings in the httpRuntime section of the web.config (with info i 'd found on microsoft.com, google, dnn formu, etc... ).

Then i thought: let's use ftp, like leupold 'd advised. So i did: I uploaded the file to the correct folder in my portal. I logged in, went to the filemanger and was looking for the button: "Synchronize Database And File System". I couldn't find it. I found a few printscreens on the web, saying that the button "synchronize dat... " is next to the update and cancel buttons of the security section of the filemanger. Well, in my case, it isn't. there is no button. in my header, i've got this: "synchronize Files" - button, but it doesn't do anything when i click on it. It doesn't give an error either, but i don't think that's the button i need.

I thought maybe, the button is disabled in this version of dnn? And maybe i 've to wait for an update?

Well, i need some help, because the owner of the website really needs to upload larger files. What can i do?

thx

Thomas

The Sync button should be in the upper right hand corner of the file manager near the "Recursive" checkbox.

Not sure how your installation works but I have installed DNN 4.3 and if I create a folder via ftp (or on the server itself) the folder does not show up when you go the the "File Manager" on the site. I have to create the folder via the site then upload my stuff to it via FTP or other ways. Only then when I click on the "Sync files" button will it show the files I have just uploaded.

Can you view the folder you created via FTP? Try creating a folder through file manager than upload into that folder and then hit the sync button again and see if that works for you.......

there have been enhancements in file sync during the past version, therefore with DNN 4.4.0 and later, synchronize recursively shall bring up al  externally created files and folders inside the /portals/[portalID] directory. if there are issues remaining, please check the DNN log viewer for issue reported and manually check files and folders tables in your database - there might be still an issue, we have not detected yet.
