I am having a nightmare.  In the space of a few hours my site has gone from operating ok to grinding to a complete halt.  My hosting providing say it is DNN but it was working ok and now is barely usable.  They have to date been pretty good.  The reason the say it is my site is because of the following stats from websitepulse:

URL tested: http://www.localparent.co.uk/tabid/824/Default.aspx
Test performed from: Washington, DC
Test performed at: 2007-02-22 04:27:11 (GMT -05:00)
Test result:  OK
DNS lookup time: 0.001 seconds
Connection time: 0.041 seconds
First byte: 22.037 seconds
Last byte: 0.251 seconds
Total time: 22.33 seconds

I don't understand why it was working fine and now isn't.  Is it time to find a new hosting provider or is there a problem with DNN (4.3.7).

Please help as I really am in trouble here and loosing business.

Thanks

Liz

A few questions.

1.  Is this now happening all the time?
2.  If so have you had the hosting provider cycle the ASP.NET Worker Process?
3.  Do you have any errors in the log?

If you do a reverse-IP search for your address (72.232.60.202) you will see that there are 155 sites running on the server with your site.  I don't know their traffic but that is probably too many.  I wouldn't mess with your DNN installation, the problem is probably on the hoster site but of course they may not admit this fact.

By the way, I used the tool at the following site to do the reverse-IP search: http://www.domaintools.com/reverse-ip/

I thought this tool sounded really cool, and wanted to see how many other sites were hosted on the same server as my shared GoDaddy.com server.

When I looked to only showed two domains, both were owned by me. This tools show the domains per IP address, which is not the necessarily the same as domains per server.  I suspect that since I own an SSL cert, I have a dedicated IP address on a shared server.

So maybe you have even more that the 156 domains hosted that it now shows today.

I agree with all your points, all true.  In this fellow's case, 155 is suspicious enough.

In your case, did you explore other sites that may be running on the server with you, at least one?  Try the tool with an IP address with one digit up or down.  Not very scientific but may give you an idea.  Maybe you can do a tracert to one of those addresses to see if they end up at the same place as yours.
