It was a 3rd party module called ICPC-Counter Visitor Counter (http://opensource.indyneinc.com). As soon I removed this module from the subsite, this kicking out was stopped.

Now I'm happy again, and will look for another visitor counter that works.

Again, thanks for your quick answer, which helped me on the right track.

Also some third party editor providers causing this issue. I had a problem with users logged out when posting a topic at subportal forums. That was a validation issue.

Well, this is interesting. I didn't know that 3rd party modules can cause this kind of problem. Can anyone explain to me why?

Anytime a link is provided to another page on the site, or a call is made back to the server through AJAX, IFrame, or some other means, then it must include either the TabId or the PortalId so that the autentication routine can determine what the portal context is.

If there is a call made without the portalId or tabId then the DotNetNuke authentication function will throw away the authentication cookie and make you start over, unless you are superUser since the superUser has access to all portals..

So, is this the only problem that causes "Child portals logged out"? And is it also why the Demo site of Dotnetnuke.com never faced the same issue?
