I got problem when i want to connect with other computer. my computer as a server while the other computer as a cient. when i type the address of my web application of DNN at that computer (e.g: http://169.254.2.4/DNN/Default.aspx) the address will automatically turn to be http://localhost/DNN/Default.aspx!!!

The computer failed to access my website. Why it cant access the http://169.254.2.4/DNN/Default.aspx, yet it turns to be http://localhost/DNN/Default.aspx at that computer. As i know, http://localhost/DNN/Default.aspx only can be access through my computer because my computer is the server.

My aim is to publish my web through internet, but first i have to test it via LAN connection. Help me pls????

Your current portal is currently configured as the localhost.

You need to add the portal alias to access it from your lan.

If you install the DNN with the address using your IP then it automatically configured to access using IP.

To add the portal alias do the following:

  • Login as host user.
  • Under admin menu select the Site Settings
  • At the bottom of the page there is section regarding the portal alias.
  • select the add new alias.
  • enter your portal alias as 169.254.2.4/DNN (do not inculde http://)
  • Press the add/update button.
  • Now you can navigate the portal using your IP and localhost.

Enjoy your navigation.
