Hi,

I am having some trouble uploading my database to my server. I have been working on my site on my own machine now I want to make it live. When I connect to the host with SQL 2005 it connects fine, but when I look to export the file to my host, it says it cant find any views or tables?

Thanks in advance

Given that I don't know exactly what you mean by "export the file to my host" I'll just take my best guess:

It sounds like you need to perform a full backup of your database and then transfer the file to your server and perform a database restore.

if that is in fact the case and you are using sql server 2005 management studio:

in sql server management studio you would right click on the database and seleo ct -> back up...
after you back up the database, take the .bak file you created and physically move it to your server. then open up management studio and right click on "databases" in object explorer and select "restore".....find that .bak file and away you go.

So that information will only really be helpful if you are using the management studio tool and have easy access to your file system in both environments........if that isn't the case, please relay more details about your environment(s).

hope that helps,

Hi there,

Firstly thanks for the reply! Ok basically I have a hosting company that I have purchased a SQL 2005 database. Now the database they have created required me to right click on my DB --> tasks--> import/export wizard. I can connect fine to the server and choose where all my info needs to go, however when I get to the step to choose which tables and views to transfer, it tells me that there are no tables or views in my db! Very strange as I can see them!

Thanks again
