Unfortunately no answer has been given to this error. I get the same error under following circumstances:

1. No error

New installation of DotNetNuke 3.2.2 then switching to ASP2.0 in a separated address space. Works!

2. Error

When changing an existing installation of DotNetNuke 3.2.0 from ASP1.1 to ASP2.0 then the mentioned error can be seen:

Server Error in '/' Application.

Does anyone know what can be done?

Thank You, Franz Fiala

I am experiencing a similar problem - I have a domain which is a pointer to a DNN portal rather than a website itself - but I need to move it over to be a website in order to obtain a fixed IP for SSL/certificate.

So I removed the pointer and created it as a website. First I got the error above; based on the advice to remove the file I renamed it, and then got a similar error about the Locales.xml.resources file. So I renamed it, as well.

Then the site appeared! But on every page that had more than one module, I got the error that there was more than one control with the same id, and nothing loaded. On pages where there was only one module, the content appeared ok.

Anyone know how I can overcome this? Thanks -

Michael

In my case, an easy fix ... website installed to ASP.NET 2.0 by default, and this is a DNN 3.x install. I switched to ASP.NET 1.1 and all is as it should be.

Hope this helps someone else sometime ...
