Hello DotNetNuke Users,

I installed DotNetNuke using SQL Server Express 2005. Everything is installed and running fine, except for one thing: I have no idea where the database is or how to access it. I've tried to find it with SQL Server Management Studio Express, but it's not there. SQL Server Express was originally configured to use Windows Authentication, but I don't know how to change it to SQL Auth. What login/password would I use? I never set one up. I can't even find the mdf file.

I thought it would be in the App_data folder, but I can't mount that using SQL Management Studio.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

you should be able to mount the apdate folder using sql express.  I think you need to close the connection to the database in the solutions exploer in visual web developer, before you can conect via sql express management studio.

To be honest if you gone with the default, easy install then you would be better browsing the database using Visual wen developer

Cheers

First off, I originally didn't use Visual Web Developer to set up the site. No matter how I connect to App_data/Database.mdf, I can't see any tables. Where are the tables? I'm confused.

Hi

First off all, how did you set Dnn up? Did you use the most basic set up or did you configure your dastabase separatly using SQL express management studio?

Does DNN  work in the browser?

Perhaps it would be easier to download Visual web developer.  Then download the DNN starter kit.  Install the starter kit by double clicking on it.  Open visual web developer and go to file>new Website.  Then click on the DNN template.  Follow the instructions for the most basic install.  Note* dont set up your own database.

You should then be able to browse your tables by making a connection to the database in the solutions explorer in VW.

How that helps
