Hi All

Is there any way of easily increasing the Tab's keyword field beyond the 500 haracter limit?

At the moment it's set at nvarchar (500)  however this is too small for one of our current clients extensive keyword lists.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Have you told your client that having too many keywords is generally frowned upon and thought to be bad for search rankings?

Hi There

Nothing to do with the client this has come from a reputable search engine optimisation company. I don't think there are that many keywords, more so key phrases with 3-5 words each in them.

Works out to be about 750 chars in all...

I do understand that some search engines such as Google penalize entries with too many keywords, but this is not the case here!

Any Comment?

This is becoming restrictive, is it just the case of changing the data size in the Tab table in the SQL DB?

Will this break the install or just the interface?

changing the value in the db would not be a problem i think, but remember to also change the values in the stored procs that communicate with the table. Also, you have to remember that this is considered a core modification, so any upgrade to newer dnn versions might break this.

You might also try adding this as suggestion to gemini (http://support.dotnetnuke.com), just make sure to state your case clearly. Just saying that it is a reputable SEO firm suggesting that to you is too little to go on. Maybe you could elaborate on their suggestions (maybe they have some reasoning behind it....)
