Hi guys. I created a temporary site as child mainly because the DNS settings for the site had not propagated and then want to make it a parent site now it has been edited. I know I could probably create a new portal, but dont want to go through the pain of creating almost 50 pages and then re-editing them. The question basically is how can I make this a parent site now? All my modules e.g feedback seem to be putting in stuff from the parent site. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

There really is very little difference between a child portal and a parent portal.  Converting is quite simple.  If your DNS is setup... simply add a new portal alias corresponding to your url... and it should begin working immediately.  You may wish to clean up the \<portalname> folder although it is not a necessity (that's where the default.aspx that made the child portal address work is located).

With respect to the data leakage... an earlier version of Feedback specifcally had this issue... but it has been corrected a while.

What version of DNN are you running?
