I'm running DNN 4.5.3.  is there a way to redirect users or roles to a specific page when they login?

On the portal settings, or perhaps under the user profile options, you can control a login redirect page, but  I don't believe the core supports setting up different redirects based on roles. There might be modules out that that support this available from Third party resources.

It's actually under   Admin > User Accounts - User Settings

You can redirect all users, but as Chris said it does not handle redirection by Role.
