I am running W2003 Server (Enterprise) and have installed DNN 5.4.3 on MS SQL/Express 2005.

The first portal was successfully created and is "localhost/dnn". I then created a second portal at Portals/FBC which is "localhost/fbc". When I try to access the new portal, I get a 404 "Page cannot be found" error.

I suspect this has to do with two portals trying to access 'localhost' but I need to create the portals off-line and then link them to their domain names when they are ready to go live. Is this possible or do I have to create 'live' sites for development? If someone could point me to instructions that would cover this type of setup I would be grateful.

*** On another note, the default portal seems to run alright but when I view the database tables folder using MS SQL Server Manager, there are no tables visible! How is this possible to be running the portal but with no tables?

I just had this very same behavior happen to me on a W2k3 server as well, except that I mapped a dedicated nonroutable ip (192.168.8.5) to the site instead of using localhost, and I can't get the page to display. I did the same install on a W2K3 staging server with the same configuration and a routable ip, and it worked fine first time.

I am just getting into checking DNN out (.4.5.3) and am trying the various install options, and I am definately not seeing the same behavior. I installed on an XP Pro laptop and using IIS and localhost, the site installed correctly, but takes forever to load a page; sometimes up to a minute. However, it runs fine using the VS2005 built in server. Go figure.

Wish I could help, but I am clueless myself.

HI.

I installed DNN version 4.5.3 on my pc and it works fine on winxp and SQL 2000 but I tried the same thing on Win 2003 server Standard Edition and SQL 2005 and when I run the portal using IIS at http://localhost/DotNetNuke/Default.aspx on the Win 2003 server I get a page not found 404 error.

I tried viewing a static html file in the same folder and it shows fine. Is there something wrong with DotNet framework?

Its running ASP.NET 2.0.50727

I have created the SQL DB and created the user DotNetNukeUser, the virtual directory DotNetNuke in IIS, the permissions have been set for the folder for the ASPNET account with full access.

What could be wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
