Hello everyone! New member here. Had a question If I may ask, I searched for an answer but was unable to find what I was seeking.

I have downloaded and installed scripts in addition to the stock ones (forum, contact forms, etc) and am wanting to edit the layout of the modules, the appearance of them (input box lengths, break statements, and more). I am unable to located where any scripts are that I can edit? I have searched everyone, even the survey script I wanted to edit its layout etc, and could not find the actual script that is called into the page?

Can someone tell me where the raw code or actual pages are that we can edit?

Many thanks!

look of module is controlled by containers, that are often part of the skin, see the skinning guide in Resources > Documentation menu item of this site. Layout of  Module controls (TExtbox width, ...) is either defined in .ascx files or by code (in .vb files), see the Developing DotNetNuke Modules manual.

I am still not sure I follow you. I looked and saw nothing of the kind. We installed a Khaki Versatility skin, and then added the "stock" modules that come with DNN to our site. We want to edit parts of the login box, and parts of the contact form that we installed straight from DNN.

Those are the files we are trying to edit, and cant seem to find. Just a little confusing the first time working with this stuff.

We found the 1st part we wanted to edit, the contact page. Now we are looking to edit the last 2 pages: the actual login section and the registration page. Those two parts however, are being elusive, we did not find the code in the DesktopModules directory. If its there, we missed it.

The login box can be changed in admin/Security/signin.ascx

Sign-up is in controls/user.ascx

And you may also need to change various files in admin/Users if you want to do work on the profile pages. It gets a bit confusing in there because the pages are put together from more than one part including bits that aren't editable here.

Also.. learn to use the Host menu language editor to change the label text through these core pages. Use it in System mode to make changes across all portals, but lose them when you update. Use it in Host mode to make changes across all portals that you will not lose when you updtae, and use it in Admin mode to make changes on one portal only that you will not lose when you update.

Also, make your own login and registration/profile pages using the modules available for the purpose on the modules menu. You might find it easier to create a more customised page by that method.

Also, there are commercial modules that can help you achieve more creative results. Ones like Datasprings Dnamic Registration and Rock Systems' Simple Login are on Snowcovered and will provide more functionality.

Regards,

Rob
