I guess I should give a summary in case it can help anyone else.

When I first checked, I found that every page request was pegging the CPU at 100% for at least a minute. The process that was in use was SQL Server Express on the same machine.

I then found that the Database was 2.5 GB with 2.3 GB of that in the EventLog table. After truncating the EventLog table and shrinking the DB the size was only 40MB, but there was still an issue with the SQL Server Process pegging the CPU which didn't go away until I turned off the SearchIndexer in the scheduler.
