I was poking around to get any clues on why the "Users Online" module quit working and also noticed that when I try to get to the "Schedule" module in the host menu I get a timeout error.  Could these things be related?  Have not discovered other functions that are not working.  Here are the logs from event viewer.

Anybody have any ideas on what could be causing this?  Any help is much appreciated.

make sure, that the scheduler jobs (especially search indexer) are not running too frequently, otherwise the next execution tries to start before the previous one has been finished and throw the error shown above.

Thank you for the response.

How do I check the frequency of the scheduled jobs if I cannot get to the "Schedule" menu?

A tipical problem similar to yours is that the schedulle History has too much data. This could be caused by not enabling the purge hstory task.

Try deleting the actual history. This will not affect any other stuff.

Go to Host - SQL and execute the following:

delete from schedullehistory

afte that, go to host settings - performance, and clear the DNN cache. Try again.

Excellent!  That was it!  I cleared the history then I could get back into the "Schedule" menu.  I confirmed that the "PurgeHistory" job is enabled and running and is set at a 1-day frequency.  The users online function also now appears to work so they are related.  I had set the frequency of the users online refresh to a fairly small frequency to get it to update more frequently so if we had a busy day that probably caused the history overload.  I set those settings back to a longer frequency.  Live and learn!!

Thanks all!

Mark
