Ok, I am a beginner to DNN and am trying to build an HTML page that submits information to my Microsoft SQL database. I know this sounds bad, but I don't know how to make the form submit to my database! I have looked into ASP pages, etc. but I don't know which of the things I read apply to DNN. I know the little things, like don't use "form" tags but I don't know if I should be using an "action post" or on "onsubmit" or if there is someway DNN can just pull the information from the page without sending the form to an external page. Please help! The only thing I can find about DNN forms online are links to ready made modules and I need to build it myself.

Thanks!

you need to create a module or use one of the forms modules that are available from 3rd party developers, e.g. free Helferlein Form from www.helferlein.com.

I have the module. I made the form in a text/html module but I don't know how to tie it in so that when someone clicks "Submit" the data moves to my database. I assume there's something simple I'm missing like putting an ASP page into the dotnetnuke folder and having submit run to it or something. . . but this is my first webpage so I don't know. I have a connection string that I know works for my SQL database but I don't know where to use it. Do I build ANOTHER page in DNN to send the form to, do I just code the page and put in the DNN folder, what?

There had been many threads on this topic and what you want is definitely not possible with the text/html module.  You will need to create your own module and the best place to get started is from here.  Of course your other option is to look at third party forms module.
