I have a 04.07.00 installation and would like to use the Event Viewer notification for exceptions.  I have correctly configured the SMTP parameters under Host->Host Settings->SMTP.  Likewise, on the Admin->Event Viewer Send Exceptions I can select an event, enter an email address and send the event and under the Edit Log Settings I have enabled an event and entered an email address.  Lastly I have enabled SendLogNotifications under Host->Schedule.  Now, I can throw an exception and then check the schedule status and will see the EventLog has moved up from the Queue and is currently processing.  The message never arrives; if I check the log on the Mail server there is no entry for the message.  I have verified my configuration as per this documentation http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Knowledge/DotNetNukeOnlineHelp/tabid/787/cid/542/Default.aspx and the notification still is not working.  Any insight is appreciated.

Best regards,

Sean

First, did you configure SMTP services in DNN correctly and get the test message?  Do other account notifcation messages get sent (New user, etc.)?

Jeff,

Good question.  I have already configured the SMTP settings under the Host and the system sends out email notifications for newly registered users. I can also manually send items from the Event Log, but the system will not send them if an exception occurs even though I have enabled that function with a valid email address.  The weird thing is that I can watch the scheduler and when an exception is thrown you can see the EventLog move from the Queue to the top of the page and processes the Event.  Likewise, you can check the Event's history and you will see a log of items.  I have noticed though in the database table EventsNotification there are no entries.  Thanks again for the question.

Best regards,

Sean Gahan
