I'm trying to set up a registered user page so that the registered user can create their own content with various modules including Text/HTML, announcements and media modules. How do I get the registered user able to upload files into a specific directory that only that usre can see?

So far I've managed to sort of make this work but when using media manager and selecting the file location, the registered user can see, root, templates and every other dirctory that is there. I need either they only see their own, or I need registered user has access vis file manage to only their own folder in root.

Hope this is clear and that someone can help.

Many thanks

Chris

  • Using the DNN file manager, create a folder called "My Content" or similar.
  • Then give the role that you want to have access to the files read an write permissions on that folder. Again, do this via the DNN file Manager.
  • Then remove all permissions for that roles from the folder above (the portal root folder).
  • Now users in that role will only see the My Content folder.
  • DNN will manage this from all modules, including the FCK editor image browser.

That's the general idea.

Some modules, such as galleries, create their own content folders at portal root level. Those folders won't be available for browsing to that role, but that is appropriate.
