My customer wants us to build a navigation menu for a site we are producing for them, and they want the rollover menu headings to be text, not hyperlinks, where the text is a category and the nested menu items beneath it are links to pages within the site.

In other words, something like this:

[link]Home[/link]

|

[text]Category Heading 1[/text] -> [link]Page1[/link] - [link]Page2[/link]

|

[text]Category Heading 2[/text] -> [link]Page3[/link] - [link]Page4[/link] - [link]Page5[/link]

|

(etc.)

Is this possible with the standard dnn menu?  If not, is there something out there that i could download or purchase to use as a drop-in replacement for the standard menu that would allow this?

If I am understanding you correct I believe you can do this with DNN.

If you want to create non-linking menu items create the page you want to use as a "grouping menu" for the rest of your pages.  Make sure you set the page to Disable in the settings.

Stuart,

Thanks for the reply.  What you're suggesting is what we're currently doing as our "closest approximation" to the solution we want.

However, the problem we have with this is that the links for the disabled pages are still presented by the Menu as hypertext links.  We've had some useability complaints from testers, who feel that users will be confused by the mouseover behavior when mousing over one of the disabled links, because the mouse will change to the pointing finger for them, and they'll think that they can click on the link, which, if they do, will not take them anywhere.

We'd like to make the navigation menu's functionality more clear to the user, so that if they're mousing over a category heading, the mouse arrow remains an arrow.  In other words, since the link to a disabled page doesn't go anywhere, make it not a link so it doesn't confuse users.
