Hi,

I've created a module myself, with the standard view page, and a new ascx+vb combination that i also gave the 'view' mode with key 'Viewer'. When i add the module to a page, i want it to show the 'Viewer' key view by default, not the default view page. I haven't found this in the settings anywhere, is there an option?

Cheers!

No, there isn't a setting, DotNetNuke will loads the view control without a key by default.  If you want Viewer to show up by default, remove its key (and add one to the default).

Hope it helps,

 The design decision makes sense of course, but the reason i made an extra view page is because i wanted to have two kinds of view pages, with different ways of showing results. Is there an alternative way to display data in two modes using one module? Using the Settings page to set something and having a big if-test in your viewpage? Making two modules?

If you are wanting the two different views to be different options on the same control, I would probably register one view control with DNN, and within that control, load either view depending on the user's selection.

The code to load a control tends to look like the following:

   1:  /// <summary>
   2: /// Loads the child control to be displayed in this container.
   3:  /// </summary>
   4:  /// <param name="controlPath">The path to the control to load.</param>
   5:  private void LoadChildControl(string controlPath)
   6:  {
   7:      try
   8:      {
   9:          PortalModuleBase childControl = (PortalModuleBase)this.LoadControl(controlPath);
  10:          childControl.ModuleConfiguration = this.ModuleConfiguration;
  11:          childControl.ID = Path.GetFileNameWithoutExtension(controlPath);
  12:          this.ControlPlaceholder.Controls.Add(childControl);
  13:      }
  14:      catch (Exception exc)
  15:      {
  16:          Exceptions.ProcessModuleLoadException(this, exc);
  17:      }
  18:  }

Hope it helps,

 It took me a while to understand how and what, but it makes sense now (also thanks to http://www.adefwebserver.com/DotNetNukeHELP/Misc/ModuleNavigationOptions.htm ). So yes, it helps, thanks!
