My DNN site takes too long to load initially. When I come in in the morning it takes about 10-15 seconds to load. A few hours later, if I close the site down the same thing happens.

I've done some research on this site and the reason, as far as I can tell, is that the Application Pool is recycling. I removed all auto recycles from the application pools and the issue is still occuring. I'm also pinging my Web server every second to try and stop this but no such luck. This site is an Intranet so there's not really any way I can use a one of the SAAS tools out on the Web that are meant to help solve this problem as far as I know.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm a newbie so I am not sure why being on an intranet would be a problem, but I heard PageBlaster works on any asp.net site. You could ask John over at snapsis.com if this would work. Makes about a 95% improvement on initial load of my site.

It sounds like the issue is that IIS unloads your website if it is inactive for 20 minutes (by default). Pinging the webserver won't help. What you need to do is hit the website itself, There is a file KeepAlive.ascx in the root directory that is there for this purpose.

I use smarterping (but can't seem to find a link to it).

There are also services that are fairly reasonable, http://host-tracker.com/ is one of them.  You also might check if this is hosted by a hosting company they might have a service where you can schedule task (webhost4life.com has this service as an add-on).  If this is on a server you own and have access to you can use http://www.visualcron.com/.
