Are any of you aware of an issue with DNN that locks up the site sometimes? It seems completely random, happens anywhere from once to three times a month, and doesn't seem to be related to any event log issues. When the site freezes, some or all of the content doesn't display (though the page design still appears) and usually the major indicator is that I receive complaints that the menu bar is gone. Resetting the application pool fixes it right up. It used to happen more frequently (5 to 10 times per month) until I configured the application pool to reset every night at around midnight, but now it seems to happen anywhere from once to three times a month, and I never know when it will happen.

Which DNN version are you using?

Du you use a bunch of modules?

is there any associated item in windows event log?

Sorry for the huge delay in response...I hope you are still out there! I was expecting an email alert for responses to this thread that never came.

I use version DNN 4.8. I have all the standard modules available, and I use the Active Directory authentication module as well. The Windows Event log doesn't seem to show any indications of the app pool freeze.

I've seen this behaviour happen as well. Seems indeed completely random, independent of DNN version, and that's also why I recycle the app every 24 hours around 2 am. Apart from the issue it's good to recycle your app pool anyway, so that's why I never really looked into it and I don't have any logs from last time it happened.

Rob, do you still have log entries from the last time it occured? If so, maybe we could analyze where it came from. Might have something to do with specific user agents (msn/yahoo/google bots) and cache behaviour.

Thanks for your response! I'll see if I can come up with a log, but it hasn't happened lately. I also recycle the pool every night, but it still seems to happen about every month or so.
