Totally new to .Net, ASP and DNN so bear with me. I have the software up and working on VS 2005. I can make basic pages, the problem is if I close VS I lose everything, not to mention I have NO CLUE how to actually make a webpage show up on my server. I have a buddy who provides me with a capable server I just am totally lost on how to actually get what I design online so I  can use it as a site. The fact that I can't create and save a site is just a single problem in a long list. Any help would be great. I have been a long time computer nerd, however this is my first foray into any type of indepth stuff (I know, I know) PLEASE HELP!.

Cheers,
Kyle

TO summarize the article above :) Basically I want to know how the hell to get my DNN page up onto the server I use. It is fully capable I just have no clue how to get it to work. Basically when I type in www.dsp-tuning.com I want my DNN site to pop up, how hard is that?! Apparently it is above me at the moment, I just need some help, and I need it bad!

Cheers,
Kyle

Kyle - have you read any of the documentation that is available.  DNN is pretty cool but it requires a little more than add water and hope like hell!

When you mean it's fully capable - does that mean you have uploaded the files to the server, set the permissions in the folder, set the connection strings and the click the url?

Also, you might have to check that your ISP has in fact turned on aspnet to run - and that default.aspx works.

What version are you trying to get working?

If it's on DNN, I fix, build, deploy, support, skin, host, design, consult, implement, integrate and done since 2003.

Nina,
Thanks for the reply, yes I do realize it takes more :) I have spent hours reading trying to understand it all. I am new to ASP as a whole so I need all the help I can get. I have tried to find some good readings online with no luck so far. Aspnet is turned on, I just need to know what to ask for a bit better, as follows.

-First all of exactly what files, where and under what directory
-How to set permissions(do you mean the properties box where it says owner, group, world?), connection string etc. Basically I need  a complete walk through there.

I know this is all basic but as I have said, it's not clicking well for me. Thanks for all the help!

Cheers,
Kyle
