I have successfully installed dnn onto my laptop and have experience with using CSS in Dreamweaver and fairly good HTML editing skills but I need some advice on how I can edit the default skin that comes with the dnn installation. Some of the main reasons are wanting a larger area at the top of the header area and adding my own style sheet? I am looking at changing the skin at one point but don't know where to get them from or how to start making my own?

Help is much appreciated as I am a dnn newbie ... CJ

The default skin files are located in your website in the Portals/_default/Skins/ folder.  There are also associated containers in the Portals/_default/Containers folder.

I would suggest making a copy of the skin/containers you want to change, renaming them, and then moving them to the portal folder that you are going to use them for (you can also upload a zip of the files through the Skins manager, rather than going directly through the file system).

If all that you want is different CSS styles, you can add your own CSS to the site by editing the portal stylesheet through the Site Settings page.
