I'm using DNN 4.09.00 and am having an issue with embedding images and links in a newsletter.  When I insert an image or link into the newsletter it does not use the full path so that when the email is sent, the link doesn't work and the image doesn't display.

I can manually edit the path to the image/link and it will work fine.  However, I plan on having others create newsletters that are not so tech savvy, so I want the full path to be used automatically.  I've looked at the "Show customer editor options--Other editor options--Full image path" and made sure that it is checked, but still it only uses a trunicated path.

The interesting thing is that if you insert a smiley, it uses the full path and will display to the smiley.

I've also upgraded to the most recent version of the FCKeditor.  It still trunicates the path.

Is there some setting or some script edit that can be made that will allow the full path to be used for embedded images and links without having to manually edit it?

Thanks!

The send method inserts a "base href", pointing to the current portal alias.

May you please check out the html source code of the email sent, if this statement is included at the beginning and how the image paths are included.

I just tried a test mail w/o issues, but when looking at the code, there might be an issue with portals in virtual directories or subportals, we have to fix.

Is your portal in a domain root ("www.mydomain.com" or "dnn.mydomain.com")?

The portal is at the domain root of www.mydomain.com/dnn.

The email source code shows this   src="/dnn/portals/1/imagename.jpg".  I'm not seeing a href tag in the source code of the email.  There is no other tag or reference indicating the rest of the link such as  http://www.mydomain.com/dnn/portals/1/imagename.jpg.

It also does the same for a link to a file on the site.

I assume, the issue is due to the portal being situated on a virtual directory. would you mind to send me an example "newsletter" to sebastian.leupold (at) dotnetnuke.com, and I will check out, which options we have.

I sent you an newsletter example.  It does appear that now it is sending the image with the full path information, because the copy I sent to myself worked.  However, the embedded link to a file on the server didn't have the full path.

Perhaps there was a refresh issue with the newsletter updating to include the full path for images?   But, it still uses a trunicated path for the linked file.
