Kai,

Did exactly per your accurate instructions. It does not work.. I don't beleive anyone is using the built-in search - not even DNN site. I wander what everybody else are doing.

Thank you

Strange.... i have it in my 4.9 installation running and working.

And this was not based on my own thoughts, i found this trick myself here (?) in the forum...but i'm not quite sure where....

Cheers

Perhaps you are missing some additional instructions.  When you enter the search word, you have to use the "%" symbol.  For example %xxx means ends with xxx, and %xxx% means xxx anywhere.

eck two, you were asolutely correct. Now I'm really pazzled. All decent web-sites, even THIS one have a simple search interface that does not require wildcards. Try searching for "dotnetNuk" on this site and you will get tons of resultes. How do they do that?

I know nothing about SQL but perhaps the SQL token '=' should not be replaced by 'like' but rather by something like '>' or "includes'?

Instead of:

AND (sw.Word like @Word)

in your stored procedure, use

AND (sw.Word like '%' + @Word + '%")

then you don't need to add the extra symbol in the search input and it would be what you were expecting.
