Hello! I need to create a login whereby users get in by entering only an account number—no username, no password. How can I do this? I've tried modifying the login.aspx but I'm not super handy with that level of programming just yet. Please help!

Why would you want to do this?
If this is a local network do you have active directory in which case you can use the active directory provider?

You need to create a custom authentication provider, but this does require some advanced coding expertise.

because the client said so :) unfortunately it won't be on a local network.

Is there a way, for example, to make the password field take the data entered into the username field, so I could just hide the password field? Does that make sense?

You can create all accounts with the same password then, in the login module's ascx page, set the password field to a default value but make the field hidden.  Be aware that any change to any core code file may be overwritten the next time you upgrade your copy of DNN.

I personally don't like the sound of this idea (and I hate altering core code) but if you're forced to meet a customer need...
