I have a new install of 5.1 in both my local host and on a web host.

  1. In web host version most of the labels for the text boxes on the Add Portal page are missing - There are no labels at all next to the text boxes on the security settings section, the question mark icons are all present, but nothing else. It's the same install that I did on local host and on local host I can see all the labels.
  2. When adding a portal in local host I created the Alias in IIS to point to my main DNN installation and then set up the new portal in DNN. It was easy. I've tried to replicate that on the web host, but the create portal page on DNN seems to complete the process but when clicking to the new domain is not accessible!!!

Here's what I have: DNN installed on www.aaaa.com/portal. I tried to create a new portal on www.bbbb.com/portal as a new parent portal.

Any help would be appreciated.

  1. seems you are missing resource files on your hosted version. This means that installation is not complete. Please contact your hosting provider about that
  2. when creating portals on a new domain, that domain needs to be registered in DNS, and needs to be handled by IIS. Contact your hosting providers for more details on their procedures for that.

  1. Thanks, I'll check that.
  2. The domain onto which I want to create a new parent portal is an existing website, that needs to stay live! I was hoping to install onto either sub-domain or a folder off the root e.g. www.bbbb.com/portal. My thinking being that the new portal wouldn't interfere with the exiting files in other folders. Is this possible? Which is better - creating a sub-domain e.g. portal.bbbb.com or using sub-folder like www.bbbb.com/portal?

Thanks for the help

since you are already running in a sub directory off the main domain, the only urls available to you are these

not sure why you named your subdir portal in the first place, as this will be a bit confusing.
