I want to know what I can do to have a menu item show up but not the content.  I want the user to come to the front page and see the menu item and when they click it they are asked to register.  When set to registered users only, the item is hidden until they log in.

 Please help ???

You should be able to set the content page to Registered Users and leave it unchecked to not include in the Menus.  Then add another new page that is in the menus, set the Templates folder to none specified (so no modules get inserted on to the non-page), set permissions for All Users.  Then expand Advanced settings and scroll down to Other Settings, Link Url, change the Link Type to Page, then select your target page (the one set to Registered Users only).  Click Update and you should be all set.  This assumes I understand you correctly.  If they click that link/page in the menus, it will take them to the login page (if they do login, it should take them back to the Registered Page).  I hope that is that is what you are looking for, if not, speak up.  Cheers - Jeremy

Easiest option would be to make all pages visible to all users, but modules visible to registered users only.

Additionally place an HTML module on every "members only" page, visible to unauthenticated users only, stating "you need to be logged in ...."
