Hi there

i'm new to DNN as we've just taken over a business which came with a website. The previous owners haven't explained how to navigate the site at all.  I was successfully logged-on as administrator, however I managed to block myself from this security role... i now have very limited access (ie can't even get the menu up at the top of the screen, i'm stuck on the homepage).  How can I reinstate myself to this position, would I need to completely deregister and register again?

The previous owner is still listed as being the Host, therefore in a panic I unregistered him (before accidently blocking myself) so as to hopefully block him from entering the site. Is it the Host who would need to reinstate me as administrator?! I think i have blocked us both.

Is there any way of rectifying this problem without having to speak directly to the Host, I also don't want to risk losing all of the info displayed on the website.

Please help me!

Do you have access to the database?

You can check the dnn_Users table and modify your user account to be the Admin or the Host or whatever you need.

I *think* you can just flip the "IsSuperUser" switch on your user account... also make sure that there is an entry in the dnn_UserPortals table that associates your user account with the proper Portal...

Or you can modify the dnn_UserRoles table to give your Admin access...

I've only had to do something like this once, and it was a pain... probably b/c I was guessing at everything I did.

Please don't jump on my suggestions without backing up your database first. :)
