On the standard DNN Register page, all the required fields have a small round-ish, red arrow image to the right. I have replacement images for these. I have always just copied them over the default /images. I believe DNN refers to these as System Images. When I upgrade they always get over-written and I have the extra step of needing to copy mine in again. You can see an example of this here.

Is there a proper/better/built-in way to accomplish this? It seems like I should be able to specify these replacements as part of the skin or put them in a portal folder that DNN will see and use instead of the system images - or is that just wishful thinking?

There is no built in functionality to do this....so what you are doing at the moment is typically the easiest way to go about it.

Hey Jeremy,

As far as I know - this is wishful thinking. If you're using these images on more than one site though - one thing that might make it easier is to incorporate these types of changes directly in to the upgrade package (the zip file package itself) so that you only have to replace the images once - and every subsequent site that you upgrade will get them with no extra steps.

Hope that helps,

Ah, okay.  Though somewhat minor, hopefully it will be in future enhancement.  It seems like the idea/pattern for doing it is already there - DNN looks for favicon.ico in the portal root and will display that instead of the default/system DNN one.  But maybe doing this for potentially dozens of images is not the best use of CPU cycles during the construction of the page.  Thanks for the quick answers!

You can find a way to do this in this blog by Nik Kalyani.

In my opinion a better solution is to implement a way to change the system image folder per portal.
