On one of our localhost installation, the Register and Login Controls have disappeared and instead have been replaced by an image.

I can no longer login to the site. Clicking on Login link or using (ctrl=login) leads to a blank page with an Icon (icon_authentication_32px.gif)

Similarly, clicking on Register or using (ctl=Register) leads to a blank page with an icon (icon_users_32px.gif)

I've never seen this before and was hoping someone can point me in right direction. LoginTabId is not changed (still is set to Null in dB)

DNN Version: 5.0.1

If you are running DNN 5.0.1, i strongly suggest upgrading to DNN 5.1.2 due to a number of errors fixed including security issues.

Are you using default Skin?

Will be upgrading to 5.1.2 in few minutes; will post if that makes any difference.

What's strange is that we've been running fine for weeks and no changes were made.

Update: No change after upgrading to latest version.

Both Register and Login controls are gone... instead replaced by Icon(s).

If it will help anyone else in future, we have other sites running DNN 5.x on same IIS (same pool) that are working fine. Not quite sure what happened to this one...since this was just a test/dev site we'll go ahead and start with a clean install.

I wonder what can we do if this happened to a production site.

Yes, we were using Default Skin; however, I've concluded that skin is not causing the problem here. I've overriden the skin and container to No Skin + No Container and all I get is a blank page.

Following URL returns the Login control only on a working DNN Site:

http://localhost/dnn5/Default.aspx?ctl=login&SkinSrc=%5bG%5dSkins%2f_default%2fNo+Skin&ContainerSrc=%5bG%5dContainers%2f_default%2fNo+Container

However, the site in question returns only a blank page. Upon examining the source, the ContentPane Div is empty...
