I would like to do a 301 redirect of unpublishedguy.com to www.unpublishedguy.com. I believe that the http alias will not accomplish this redirection. How can I accomplish this SEO friendly redirection?

Thanks.

Kurt

This worked only if your DNN Alis have also the www.unpublishedguy.com added.

So, are you saying that if I have both unpublishedguy.com and www.unpublishedguy.com as aliases for a portal, then I am in good shape? (I am using DotNet Nuke 4.8.4) That is my current setup.

Is this really accomplishing a 301 permanent redirect? The goal is to only have one URL by which a page can be accessed. So you don't want to access the same home page at www.mydomain.com and mydomain.com and/or www.mydomain.com/default.aspx and / or mydomain.com/default.aspx or www.mydomain.com/home.aspx and on and on.

Every one of these pages should have a 301 permanent redirect to a single page, whatever that page might be. Some like www.mydomain.com and some like mydomain.com. That is a personal choice. But from an SEO perspective every page on your site should only be accessible by 1 URL, optimally.
