Hi,

First off, I have just taken taken over a the administration for a dotnetnuke site, so I haven't read through the Administration guide yet, however the owners of the site want it to be localized ASAP.

As a temporary solution I have put up a www."webpage"/ru, with the old russian version. But now I can't figure out to insert a link above the menu (in the header, right next to the logo). I have tried to find help on google, but it seems it's such a simple task that everyone knows about it - except me as I haven't really gotten to know DNN yet. So, how do I insert a link next to (in the right side) of the logo? Do I have to edit the skin?

The page is setup with DNN 4.09 and several other modules among them The DNNMenu. I have searched for a localization module supporting this menu, but I cannot find any. Do you have any localization recommendations?

Thanks in advance,

Simon

Unless your current skin has a module container area directly above the menu (not likely) you'll have to edit the skin to add your link in that particular spot.

You do, however, have two additional options besides editing the skin:

  1. Use javascript to dynamically insert HTML just above the menu.

  2. Use an "injector" module to insert your custom HTML where you want it to appear.

In either case you'll have to peek inside your skin to figure out what container element you need to reference when inserting your link code.  Option #2 is preferable since the code injection happens server side and there is less chance of a module or of page content interfering with the injection.

You can find a few "injector" modules for sale on SnowCovered but you should first check out the free one here:

Thanks,

I finally found the *.ascx file under Portals/0/Skins/*, to add the link manually as it is only temporary. That made the trick :)
