I have my webserver and database server on separate machines.  Recently I rebooted both servers.  I was checking the website to see that it had come back up, but what I got was the installation screen.  I cancelled out of the prodcedure, but apparently, it re-wrote my web.config file and modified the Machine Key.  Because of this I was unable to log in.  Luckily, I had a backup and was able to restore the web.config file.

My question is: What can I do to prevent the install from running during an unexpected database server reboot?

You can try renaming the install.aspx file to install."something"

Thanks.  I change root/install/ install.aspx to install.aspx.rename.  But I got the same result today when I was fiddling with my SQL Server.  This seems like a major security flaw to me.  If there is a network glitch and SQL server is not available, it automatically takes the next user to hit the website to the install process?

Is there a setting that I'm missing to prevent re-installing on an established site?
