I apologize if this question has been here before, but when I search I get the following message returned: A critical error has occurred.  Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.

Using: DNN 5.0.1
Using: Visual Web Developer 2008 (VWD) - Express Version
Using: The IIS7 that came with the VWD Install - I don't want to serve DNN only develop and test on my local PC at this time.
Using: SQL 2005 Express Version
Using: O/S  XP - Home
I am new to DNN and have some basic knowledge of VWD version above

I installed DNN on my local PC in a folder “web1” and it seems to function well in this folder.  I have copied the folders/files from web1 to another folder named “web2”.

I then made some changes to DNN in the folder named web2 and in VWD press crtl F5 to check the changes in my browser. The browser opens and starts to load <website found localhost:web2> but drops this url just before the page opens and loads DNN from folder <localhost:web1> instead.

I rename the folder “web1” to “DoNotOpenMe” and then open web2 again in VWD - press crtl F5 to check and the browser returns the message “can not find web1”.

Why does DNN in the web2 folder keep trying to open or redirect to another folder?
Can someone please tell me where to change this configuration or what to look for.

Thank you.

Re: http://localhost/dnn serves but http:///dnn is NOT serving login to DNN as superuser ("Host") and go to portals in Host menu. At the bottom, edit portal alias and add the external address.
