Hello,

I seriously need urgent help on this. I did a Windows update on my Vista Business and I think it messed up my IIS or part of it. After the Win update I did a clean installation of DNN 5.1.4 and once everything was succesfully installed, I wanted to login as the host, however in doing that I get resource page cannot be found and then it says the err page is login.aspx/px. I don't understand where the extra px is coming from. I think the friendly urls is messed up, i'm not sure . Funny thing is that I had a previous installation of another DNN 5.1.4 and when clicking on pages that have a long name, like PhotoGallery.aspx they open fine, but pages like Home.aspx can't seem to be found; shows it as Home.aspx/x. Can anyone figure out for me what's going on. Also if anyone knows what the default settings were for IIS in Windows Features for Vista, will really appreciate your help.

Thanks

Just to add on, I did a system restore and now DNN 5.1.4 won't run, it gives me:

Configuration Error:

Do I need to install .net 3.5 SP1? Please anyone advise.

Thanks

  • if ASP:Net 3.5 SP1 has been installed before, make sure it is installed now as well
  • also make sure, the IIS web site is configured to run in integrated (pipeline) mode

No ASP.NET 3.5 SP1 was not installed before, however the DNN site was working before. Anyway i'm planning to install VS 2008 SP1 which I think should have .net 3.5 included. Will get back to you if it still doesn't work.

Thanks for your response.

Oh finally it worked after I installed VS 2008.

Now a Big question. Should I install Vista SP1 and SP2. I'm now scared coz previously I did a Windows update not the Service packs and I think my friendly urls got messed up. I have downloaded the 2 Service packs for Vista and this time I don't want to do the windows update but rather install these service packs manually. Should I go for it? Any advise will be highly appreciated.

due to a number of security fixes included, you are seriously advised to apply Windows service packs. I am not aware of any issues affecting IIS functions.
