I hope you can take time to instruct me on how to do this, for I need help please.

I have Win 2K3 running a DNN 4.5.3portal attached to a SS2K5 db, and I have access to both web and db servers.

The site runs fine and has a child portal, all is good. I wish to upgrade the portal to 5.1.4 and have done so on my XP Pro development machine. I wish to now upgrade a test version on the live server, but cannot configure IIS 6 correctly to view the default.aspx page either on the network or on the server itself.

The live site IIS configuration is like so in the IIS site properties:

Web Site Tab:

Description: mysitename

IP Address: All Unassigned

TCP Port: 80 SSL Port: 443

Advanced (if I click it):

IP address - Default      TCP Port - 80        Host Header Value: www.mysitename.com

Home Directory Tab:

Local Path: C:\sites\mysitename\www

Application name: Default Application

Starting Point: <mysitename>

Documents Tab:

I have default.aspx and app_offline.htm

Portal alias table:

mysitename.commysitename.com/gsap

1 0 www.mysitename.com
2 0
5 2 www.mysitename.com/gsap
6 2

From within IIS manager I used to be able to right click on default and app_offline pages to select browse to preview the pages, but now it doesn't work anymore. I get "server timed out". The site loads however from a browser from other machines.

I have uploaded a copy of the site and named the folder mysitedev, and have spent hours configuring it numerous ways in IIS but I cannot get it to load from the server or form the intranet development machine via IP.

What is the correct configuration I should be having for both the main and test site? Please, any help is appreciated greatly.

1. the portal alias table shouldn't contain empty entries.

2. to setup DNN locally, either specify DNN installation directory as physical path of your local default web site or use free XPPro IIS Admin from www.jetstat.com/iisadmin to be able to use multiple web sites subsequently. this will work for local access only.

3. make sure, localhost or the local domain name has been added to portal alias table.
